Children’s Services at HCPL


At Hardin County Public Library, we are delighted to offer a variety of programs and services designed for children of all ages:


  • Reading Programs: Fun, age-appropriate activities to foster a love of reading.
  • StoryTimes: Join us for engaging and interactive storytimes designed to inspire a love of reading and spark imagination.
  • Reader’s Advisory & Reference Help: Assistance with homework, research, and reading recommendations.
  • Summer Reading Program: A yearly program with fun challenges and recognition. 
  • Children’s Collection: A wide selection of fiction, non-fiction, and audio materials.

Your Child Can Get a Library Card!

Children are welcome to have their own library card, helping them learn responsibility from an early age.

  • Requirements: Parents or guardians must bring the child in person with a photo ID.
  • Cost: Free for Hardin County residents; $10 fee for out-of-county residents.

Bringing the Library to Your Classroom!


Hardin County Public Library offers a variety of services to support teachers and students:


Library Tours:

  • Fun for all ages! Stories for younger students, book talks for older ones.
  • Tour groups can get library cards (applications provided; require parent signatures and one week processing).

Book Talks:

  • Grades K–12, at the library or your school.

Non-Fiction Book Selections:

  • Customized collections for classroom use.
  • Request at least two weeks in advance.
  • Books can be checked out for up to one month (new titles excluded).
