Rene Hutcheson is a native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama with a BS degree in Communications.  She earned her MLIS in 1998, also from the University of Alabama.  She has been active in the Alabama Library Association since 1994, serving as Chair of the Public Library Division, Centennial Committee, and Public Relations Division. She was also past president of the Public Library Directors Council of Alabama.  For the last 16 years she was the director of the Luverne Public Library in Alabama.  She oversaw construction of a new library building which helped the library gain recognition for achieving excellence through the Alabama Public Library Standards.  Most recently she was a regional coordinator for the Statewide Big Read Program and received the Distinguished Service Award from the Alabama Library Association and was designated a Library Champion from the Public Library Division. Rene is looking forward to meeting the Hardin County residents and discovering how the Hardin County Public Library can better meet their needs.
